The day of July 11, 2012 witnesses the release of Malaysia 2012 Asian Automotive Industry Awards. During the event, Great Wall Haval H5 wins Malaysia 2012 Best SUV Assembly Award, which is the first time for a Chinese brand to win this award since the establishment of Asian Automotive Industry Award (AAIA) five years ago.

AAIA is judged by Vehicle Certification Agency, the most authoritative vehicle certification organization in the UK. This year AAIA offers 19 awards, including the Best Performance Award, The Best Value Award and The Best Assembly Award, and attracts 33 enterprises to compete for these awards. Together with Great Wall Haval H5, some other models, including Perodua Myvi, Toyota Camry, BMW 520D and Proton Preve, won the Best Assembly Award respectively. Perodua, Proton, Toyota and BMW are among the top 10 best sellers in Malaysia.

It is worth mentioning that after Haval SUV was honored “Car of The Year” of Malaysia SUV segment on November 25, 2011, the Best SUV Assembly Award is another big prize won by Haval H5, standing out among its competitors. Within just one year Great Wall Motors won two big prizes, which fully demonstrates that it is recognized by the Malaysian market with its reliable product quality.

Great Wall Malaysian KD plant officially went into production in September 2011with an annual production capacity of 15,000 units. The factory mainly assembles Wingle 5 and Haval H5. Wingle 5-2.5TCI has been selling on the market and Haval SUV plans to be launched into the market at the beginning of August this year. It is expected that 800 units of Haval SUV will be ordered for 2012.

Green Oranges Sdn Bhd, Great Wall distributor in Malaysia, indicates that they hope to enter other markets in ASEAN, such as Indonesia and Cambodia etc, based on the production in Malaysia.
