Great Wall Motors signed a strategic cooperative agreement on EVI technology with Anshan Steel

On August 8, the Vice President and General Manager of Anshan Steel Company Ltd, Chen Ming and his delegation, visited Great Wall Motors’ headquarter in Baoding. President of Great Wall Motors, Wei Jianjun, held an interview with the delegation. Both parties made an extensive communication on planning for future cooperation and development, and signed a strategic cooperative agreement on auto sheet EVI technology.

According to this strategic cooperative agreement signed between Great Wall Motors and Anshan Steel, besides the external sheet and high - strength steel, Anshan Steel will also get involved in the preliminary technological cooperation with Great Wall Motors, including complete vehicle and parts collision analysis, durability analysis, stamp molding analysis, mold simulation calculation in different stages and making a program for process improvement…etc.

President Wei Jianjun expressed at the interview that as one of the largest steel suppliers for Great Wall Motors, Anshan Steel has maintained good cooperation for years. At present, Great Wall Motors is extremely focused on export. However, as the emission requirements in overseas markets is getting more and more stringent, it is more important to strengthen mutual cooperation, thus providing steel with higher strength and lighter weight so as to meet the demands of future automobile development.

Chen Ming recognized the sincere cooperation between Great Wall Motors and Anshan Steel over the past years, and stated the difficult situation faced by the steel industry and Anshan Steel Group. He expressed the necessity for the steel industry to adjust structures to solve problems in this adverse situation at the present time. As auto steel is one of the strategic products of Anshan Steel, without the support of strategic clients like Great Wall Motors Anshan Steel can hardly achieve the existing development.

Beginning this year, Great Wall Motors has maintained growth against the backdrop in the market with the trend that the independent brands are suffering from a universal sales decline. From January to July, Great Wall Motors achieved the total sales of 329,000 vehicles with an increase of 22.8% on yearly basis. Among them, 134,800 vehicles are Haval SUVs, with a yearly increase of 55.6%; 58,000 vehicles were exported, with a yearly increase of 47%.

At present, more than 10 important supporting groups are maintaining strategic cooperation with Great Wall Motors, including the world’s biggest automotive technology provider BOSCH, the 4-wheel drive technology provider BorgWarner, Delphi and Valeo … etc with the cooperation contents updated from the product supply to the earlier involvement of product R&D, realizing more extensive technical cooperation and R&D innovation.. The signing of the agreement with Anshan Steel is also an important step for technological R&D cooperation for Great Wall Motors.
